Hundreds of people gathered at an overflowing chapel in Beresfield on Friday to pay their respects to Ms Bennett following her tragic death last week.

The 35-year-old, mother to young daughter Willow and partner of Newcastle cricketer Joseph Price, died after being hit by a school bus while walking nearby their Adamstown home on November 5.

"Raani was a beautiful soul who had a special place in the hearts of the people she loved," Ms Bennett's stepmother Vicki said.

"We will miss you Raani every day and we will always love you deeply. We promise to care for Willow and Joey and you will live in our hearts forever."

Raani's "many sides" were highlighted during the tributes.

"Her love of cars and car racing, being a Bulldogs supporter in a Knights town, her artistic genius that led to Devine Faces MakeUp," Vicki said.

"Her skilful hair styling and clothing and love of dressing up for shows like the Kurri Nostalgia Festival."

Making "incredible" birthday cakes, her "amazing paintings and drawings" and a short stint as "DJ Raani" were also mentioned along with tattoos.

"Tattoos that adorned her body were an ongoing artistic process that recorded her major life events," Vicki continued. "From those tattoos we see Raani's message to us all, to love life."

Mr Price, who managed to score a match-winning century for Wests in first grade on the weekend, said he was a "shattered man" but promised to "look after" their daughter.

A poem called My Mummy's Garden was read on behalf of Willow.

The words "one of a kind, bold, vibrant" were featured in the booklet.

Many who attended on Friday wore colourful clothing, including floral-print dresses, Hawaiian shirts and even a pair of red boots, to honour Ms Bennett.

Various cricket clubs from across the Newcastle district were represented.

Alex Lloyd's song Amazing was played at the end of proceedings.

The service finished at 11:11am, which was the same time the funeral of her older sister Ailsa Ling started three years ago.
