A new price high has been set for Merewether's Macquarie Street with the $1.69 million auction sale of a luxury, five-bedroom residence with panoramic views.
Chasse Ede and Mark Kentwell, of PRD Newcastle and Lake Macquarie, marketed the ultra-contemporary home (main picture) with a guide of $1.8 million.
Custom-built in 2016, it came with plenty of "wow factor" and produced a record sale for the street, according to Australian Property Monitors data.
It featured three bathrooms, four separate living zones and a sound-proofed home cinema. There were vaulted ceilings, a formal lounge with its own bar, a custom kitchen with Caesarstone benches and a servery window, and a terrace adjoining a heated infinity pool complete with waterfall feature.
There was a home office or sixth bedroom upstairs, a fenced backyard, large storage shed and double garage.
Mr Ede reported two registered bidders for the auction, one in room and one online, and described the sale under the hammer as "a good result".
It was one of nine properties PRD reported sold from their July 22 auction night.
There were three in-room bidders for a Dudley house which attracted around 70 groups through inspections and plenty of online attention before it also sold under the hammer.
Mr Ede and Jeremy Allwood marketed the surprise packet at 3 Cooper Street (picture top right) with a guide of $1.4 million. It sold for $1.45 million.
Unassuming from the street, the dual-level home featured three-metre high ceilings with curved floor-to-ceiling glass. It had four bedrooms, three bathrooms, a large conservatory sunroom, multiple living spaces, infinity edge pool, pool house with kitchenette and a home office. It was positioned in a quiet cul-de-sac and backed onto reserve.
Other PRD auction sales included $1.44 million for a renovated three-bedroom, two-bathroom cottage at 175 Dawson Street in Cooks Hill and $447,500 for a two-bedroom unit at 16/57 Nesca Parade on The Hill that was marketed with a guide of $400,000.
A four-bedroom residence that had an award-winning renovation at 27 Kempster Street in Merewether was sold by PRD for $2.1 million prior to auction.
Belle Property's Anthony Di Nardo has sold a five-bedroom house on a block 1113 square metres in size that backed on to bushland reserve at 4 Andrew Street in Warners Bay (pictured bottom right) for $940,000 within its first week on the market. Mr Di Nardo said the land size and being a single-level home made it popular.
First National Newcastle City have sold a renovated four-bedroom residence at 53 Alexander Street in Hamilton South for $1.576 million.
It was listed for sale on July 8 and set for auction in August.
Other recent sales around Newcastle include $700,000 for a four-bedroom home Green St Property sold at 9 Nelson Street in Mayfield. Street Property sold a three-bedroom house at 37 George Street in North Lambton for $552,000. McKiernan Real Estate sold a two-bedroom apartment at 2/16 Watt Street in Newcastle for $670,000.
