But with rain predicted for much of the next week across Newcastle and the Hunter Region, Wednesday looks the best chance for bit of sunshine for surfers and swimmers .
There's a 50 per cent chance of 1-5mm on Wednesday but, from Thursday through to Monday, according to the Bureau of Meteorology, there's an at least 80 per cent chance of 5-10mm.
In bad news for those hoping to get outdoors for the weekend, falls of 10-20mm have been predicted for Sunday.
Meanwhile, Narrabeen will follow Newcastle in hosting the second leg of the World Surf League Championship Tour in April.

The Newcastle leg of the tour is slated for April 1-11. Narrabeen is scheduled to be held from April 16-26.
