Hungarian textile artist Eszter Bornemisza (artwork pictured) lives in Budapest and creates stunningly detailed large-scale wall-hangings and layered vignettes inspired by her city. Her Linkages exhibition delves deep into her interest with city maps and how they often reveal links to a city's social and culture life. Newcastle Printmakers Workshop, Adamstown, is celebrating printmaking during the inaugural NEW PRINT 21 festival February 19-21. Free print demonstrations, artist talks and the exhibition Ink up and Print will be on display. newcastleprintmakersworkshop.org
At Newcastle Art Space, Tighes Hill I'm from Earth opens 4.30pm-6pm on Saturday, February 20. An exhibition by studio artists that explores "ideas about clay and its sensuality - as earth, as medium and a means of expression" curated by intern Leah Poi. Exhibition runs until March 14.
Nature Camp by Holly Leonardson opened at Onwards Studio, Hamilton on February 19 and continues Saturday, February 20, 10am-4pm. Leonardson is exhibiting paper collages and large digitally printed patchwork quilts. Her works will warm your heart and take you back to the nostalgic childhood days of crafting with glue and scissors.
SMAC Studio, 73/A Elizabeth St, Tighes Hill, is open Friday, February 26, 6pm-9pm and Saturday, February 27, 10am-4pm with abstract landscape paintings by Tyler Dan in Follow the Thread. A self-taught artist whose intuitive painting process is influenced by her experiences of the natural environment.
