Some time on Thursday night or Friday morning, one or more offenders have broken into Port Stephens SES property in Raymond Terrace and stolen chainsaws, tool boxes, roof heights safety kits, bags and more.
"It is very disappointing that emergency response equipment has been taken," deputy unit commander Alysha Springett said.
"The chainsaws are used for situations such as cutting trees off homes, cars or roads.
"The height safety kits are used for situations where we need to gain access to a roof or perform heights/depths rescues."
The theft is a kick in the guts for the Port Stephens SES crew who have been extremely busy in the last couple of months helping out in flood and storm operations up and down the east coast.
"We have now lost equipment essential for us to be able to respond to disasters in the area," a statement from the SES said.
The community has been asked to keep a lookout for the stolen equipment and contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 if you have any information relating to the theft.
