Dynamic defender Tiana Jaber has declared she will be "fighting to be in the starting XI" this season and Newcastle Jets coach Ash Wilson expects to see her there.
The 21-year-old came to the Jets last season with limited league experience and impressed in four appearances as she played the waiting game behind an experienced back four.
Wilson says the departure of fullback Tess Tamplin to Swiss Women's Super League champions Servette "opens up a spot for her if she works hard".
"She's physical. She's powerful. She aggressive. She likes to get forward and we're expecting her to contribute highly this season," Wilson said.
NH: What was your first club, and how old were you?
TJ: My first club was Glenwood Redbacks. I was seven.
NH: What do you do off the field?
TJ: My work changes all of the time because I'm relocating but mostly working in a cafe. I spend a lot of time with my family and with my partner. We like to go to the beach, on adventures, fishing. We love going out to eat. I love food. And I like reading as well.
NH: What music, if any, is playing on game day?
TJ: I'm very into getting in the zone, getting pumped up. I'll listen to anything by Travis Scott.
NH: What television series, if any, are you addicted to?
TJ: Animal Kingdom.
NH: What can't you live without?
TJ: I honestly couldn't live without chocolate. And probably my dog.
NH: Do you have any pre-match habits?
TJ: I have to make sure that I've eaten enough because food is big one for me. And I like to do a lot of stretching and just listening to music and think about what I have to do. I'm not really a superstitious person. Although, I have a shin pad that's got a crack in it and is broken but I don't want to change it and still wear them.
