Dobson, who scored a hat-trick for Adamstown against Merewether two weeks ago before joining the national team, came on in the 88th minute for Lisa De Vanna in a 2-1 win over Brazil in Brisbane on Wednesday night.
It capped a remarkable comeback for the 22-year-old Novocastrian who was left out of the Newcastle Jets W-League team two seasons ago but bounced back with the WPL golden boot and a solid Jets campaign last summer.
"To be honest, when I got the call-up to go on the field, I teared up a bit," Dobson said.
"But I held myself together and was all smiles when I went on.
"It was an amazing feeling because not many players get the opportunity to do it.
"I had a fair few touches once I got out there and I was really happy with how it all went."
Dobson was one of only 14 players used across the two international friendlies.
Jets teammate Hannah Brewer, who debuted with Newcastle captain Gema Simon at the Cyprus Cup last month, was among nine players who did get game time against Brazil, who won the first match 1-0 last Sunday.
Revelations of a player revolt against Matildas coach Hesterine de Reus came out during the Brazil series but Dobson said the dramas did not take away from her dream call-up.
"At the camp, it was certainly all happening . . . but I don't have an opinion on it," Dobson said.
"I was new to the team. I was just happy to stand back and let FFA handle it.
"For me, it was great to just be in the camp.
"It was an amazing experience, particularly to play against Brazil who are such a high-profile team in football."
Tomorrow, she will boost the defending WPL major premiers in a round-four clash of the unbeaten teams at Baxter Field from 10.30am.
Valentine take on Football Mid North Coast from 2pm. Merewether host Thornton Park at Newcastle Athletics Field from 1pm tomorrow in the remaining game.
