The snake, which might be a spitting cobra, was found circling the bowl in Nairobi, Kenya.
Kristy Gatamah sent it in after we asked about your phobia. Kristy’s husband Herb is from Kenya, and some family friends made the trouser-raising discovery.
The porcelain invader popped up in a suburb of Nairobi close to grassland, but Herb says it’s not a common sight. They occasionally slither through pipes and visit the quietest room in the house. Bit worse than a redback on the toilet seat, no?
‘‘The tip for those with phobias is apparently to keep a bottle of paraffin in the bathroom and pour some in the toilet, as snakes can’t stand it,’’ says Kristy.
‘‘I’d prefer to just hold on. Forever.’’
While Kristy’s furnished us with our new greatest fear, other readers confessed to a swarming smorgasbord of phobia. Leeches. Birds. Being caught in a plague of locusts.
Web commenter Time for a Bex reminded us of a particularly icky movie.
‘‘The freakiest movie I saw as a kid was The Candyman. Nightmares for ages.’’
The Candyman was a killer whom you summoned by looking into a mirror and saying his name five times.
A kid from Topics’ primary school did exactly that on a sleepover.
Haven’t heard from him for a while
