The couple, from Singleton, described the wedding as “a dream come true”.
They travelled to Los Angeles and camped in line for almost two weeks to be the first to see Star Wars: The Force Awakens at the theatre.
Their wedding was officiated by a jedi knight, with Darth Vader having walked Ms Ritter down the aisle.
Chewbacca and R2-D2 attended the ceremony in a tuxedo and bow tie.
Mr Porters wore a traditional suit, while the bride wore a white gown decorated with silhouette patterns of X-wing starfighters from the film franchise.
The wedding was streamed online so Ms Ritter's father – who is afraid of flying – could watch from home.
“My dad hates flying, even for my own wedding,” she told US website Mashable.
"But it will be live streamed so he can still see it."
She said the wedding was “the theatre’s idea”.
Singleton's Caroline Ritter cuts the cake at her Star Wars wedding to Andrew Porters outside the Chinese Theatre in Hollywood.
“They asked if anyone was interested in getting married here on the premiere date.”
IMAX, which runs the cinema, donated $US5,000 to the Starlight Foundation on the couple's behalf.
Shakira Brennan-Dickson, a 15-year-old girl from Victoria, was going to be Mr Porters’ "best man", but she was unable to make it to LA.
Shakira put on a tuxedo and watched the wedding as it was streamed online.
“It was awesome, I’m so happy for them,” Shakira said.
“I know how much Caroline will love that wedding because it’s not basic – she never really wanted basic.”
Mr Porters works as a firefighter at Singleton.
The brigade’s deputy captain Joe Adamthwaite said the wedding was the talk of the station.
“He looked a bit nervous – I don’t know if he was sweating or crying,’’ Mr Adamthwaite said.
“We knew he was going to get married, but we didn’t know he’d get married over there.
“He kept that a bit quiet.
“We all thought we’d be going to a Star Wars wedding over here.”
Of the couple’s love of Star Wars, their friend Glen Fredericks said “I don’t want to use the words ‘crazy fans’ because that might sound like I’m judging them”.
“I’m a crazy fan myself,” he joked.
Mark Halley Hall, a friend and work colleague of Ms Ritter, said the wedding was “a dream come true for her”.
“She lives and breathes Star Wars, so for her to be married outside that theatre is her princess wedding,” Mr Hall, of Rutherford, said.
“I'm so happy for them both, as they are always there to help others in true Jedi fashion.”
