P&C spokesperson Sarah Walker said there was plenty of excitement and amazement when one class unearthed the oversized root vegetables last Friday.
“Ms Sonya Gray's 3/4G class dug up their vege patch before going on holidays, and uncovered some very unusual sweet potatoes,” Ms Walker said.
“The biggest was 11.5kg and was a bit like carrying a very large swaddled baby. Another was shaped like a snail and about 25cm high.”
They may have been well shy of the world’s heaviest sweet potato of 37kg but apparently produced “some of the best sweet potato chips ever tasted”.
