Gallen and Barnett were involved in two flare-ups, after which the Sharks veteran said he should not have reacted because “he’s a winger’’. In an apparent case of mistaken identity, Gallen thought he had been jousting with Newcastle winger Nathan Ross.
“There you go,’’ Gallen laughed. “I don’t even know his name, that’s how much I care.’’
Barnett, who made 144 metres in attack and 30 tackles, was arguably Newcastle’s best player against Cronulla.
“He certainly takes it to the opposition,’’ Knights coach Nathan Brown said of the aggressive 22-year-old, a mid-season signing from Canberra.
“He’s not bothered by the names or reputations of people. He certainly gives us a lot of what we need.’’
