Charity The Sista Code, in partnership with the Newcastle Herald, on Friday, November 25, released two videos as part of a community campaign under the banner 1000 People - One Voice: Say NO to domestic violence.
One video depicts a woman standing alone, before two others come to support her, and hundreds more more after them.
It is the culmination of the 1000 People – 1 Voice movement, to show the Hunter will not tolerate domestic violence.
The video’s release coincides with White Ribbon Day.
“The purpose is to capture the community in an accessible, open venue – Hunter Stadium – to say no to domestic violence, to show it is not going to be accepted, but also to encourage people who might be experiencing it to take a stand against it,” Got Your Back Sista director Belinda Smith said.
“We want people to reach out for help.”
The video will be shared on social media and is hoped to be screened on commercial television.
