George Alexander Parker was first charged with child sex offences in 2000. But in a controversial Newcastle District Court case in 2001, four charges relating to the sexual assault of the boys were no-billed during the trial.
Detectives reinstated the no-billed offences on December 23 last year and charged the priest with 20 fresh offences, including five counts of buggery. However, he died on January 11.
Father Parker’s fresh and pre-existing charges were mentioned in Newcastle Local Court and Newcastle District Court on Thursday where the proceedings were officially “closed”.
