Mr Coombs visited Ms Sneddon at her Swansea Heads home after acknowledging she had been hurt by the decision to help police in their case against her former boss, the disgraced former Swansea MP and NSW Government minister Milton Orkopoulos.
In an interview he pledged to give his "100 per cent support to find her a job and I would be pleased as punch to sit down with her and see what we can do to help".
Mr Coombs said he had never spoken with Ms Sneddon and he chose not to keep her as an electorate secretary after the March 2007 election because "the gossip around the place was that Gillian didn't want to come back".
"I didn't know she was after a job because she never approached me about it," he said.
Ms Sneddon was on stress leave at the time after being locked out of the Swansea office.
Mr Coombs said he was not aware the locks were changed after Orkopoulos, who knew he was being investigated by police, appealed to NSW Parliament administrative staff.
Mr Coombs said he was also unaware of claims that another Orkopoulos employee refused to listen when victim Ben Blackburn tried to tell her about a sexual matter involving Orkopoulos in the months before the MP was charged.
The employee allegedly told Mr Blackburn "I did not want to hear anything further and I did not want to be involved", the employee's statement to police said.
Ms Sneddon said she "felt better for having spoken to him [Coombs] face to face because I think it's important he heard what really went on in the office".
"I'm still calling for a full inquiry into the matter and I want my job back," she said.
Her friend and former Orkopoulos office employee Linda Michalak said it was a relief someone from the Labor Party had made contact with Ms Sneddon.
"He's the first ALP person to come and speak with Gillian since all this happened," Ms Michalak said.
