But – thanks to the wonders of smart phones – Novocastrians can put themselves on the completed platform with a virtual reality app unveiled by the state government this week.
Called “Newcastle360”, the app gives a 360-degree look at the Wickham transport hub ahead of its scheduled opening in October.
Users can also get down on the platform to see what it will be like when the light rail network is operational. They can also see a bird’s eye view of the “space frame”, as well as view project information including progress photos.
Revitalising Newcastle’s Michael Cassel said the app was an “engaging, immersive and memorable” introduction to the interchange.
Download the app on the App Store or Google Play.
