Louise Lane has been awarded the inaugural Corrective Services NSW Community Corrections Assistant Commissioner Commendation – a tribute to domestic violence programs she established.
“Over her 23-year career Louise has been a strong leader and a valuable mentor, who works hard to motivate, develop and support her staff at every opportunity,” Assistant Commissioner Rosemary Caruana said.
“She has used her vast experience to work collaboratively with other agencies and successfully explore innovative ways to work with domestic violence offenders.”
Ms Lane was praised for introducing effective strategies for discouraging the cycle of reoffending.
She cited the high rate of domestic violence and said agencies needed to offer “comprehensive interventions”.
“There is a high incidence of domestic violence within the community so we need to work across agencies to offer more comprehensive interventions to address this important issue,” Ms Lane said.
“It’s not without its challenges, but with persistence and the right interventions you can make a difference.”
