
A MAN has pleaded guilty to robbing the Williamtown McDonald’s restaurant in the company of others.
Nathan Colby, 22, of Raymond Terrace, entered the takeaway restaurant, allegedly with a group of men, shortly before 11pm on January 25 last year.
According to agreed facts, a masked Colby was armed with a baseball bat which he later used to strike a victim’s hand during the heist.
Others were allegedly armed with a single barrel shotgun and a large machete.
More than $3000 was stolen from the registers and personal items were taken from victims during the robbery.
The facts state part of the money was gambled by Colby and others on poker machines at a licensed premises in Mayfield.
After an investigation by the Robbery and Serious Crime Squad, Colby was arrested on April 8.
The facts state he was found hiding behind a bean bag underneath a bed. Police also found two small bags of ice. The matter was adjourned to February 1 for sentence. Colby’s co-accused will face court at a later date.
