
A MAN in his late 70s has died after he was struck crossing the Pacific Highway at Belmont.
Police were called to the busy stretch near the Ada Street intersection about 8.45pm on Thursday.
A Toyota Hilux hit the man as he was crossing.
Lake Macquarie police worked to assist him but he died at the scene.
The utility’s driver, a 55-year-old man, stopped after the incident. He was uninjured and taken to Belmont Hospital for mandatory blood and urine tests.
Investigations are underway and police are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
