Nineteen Hunter Region schools will open the gates to the public during the holidays as part of the Share Our Space Program.
Residents will have access to playgrounds, ovals and sports courts in the the $30 million NSW Government plan.
Parliamentary Secretary for the Hunter Scot MacDonald MLC said the push to open the grounds to the public follows a successful trial over summer involving 81 public schools across the state.
“This is great news for families in the Hunter as it not only will give parents and children access to more open green space, but also provide them with more options for school holiday activities,” Mr MacDonald said.
“Participating schools will also receive a boost, with a $5000 grant that they can use to help upgrade their facilities for community and school use.”
The playgrounds will be open from 8am to 6pm, seven days a week, from April 16 to April 27.

- New Lambton South Public School
- Newcastle East Public School
- Redhead Public School
- Speers Point Public School
- Tarro Public School
- Wangi Wangi Public School
- Wirreanda Public School
