Bailey best on field as Tahs in cruise-control; Cookers fight back against Belmont for 6-all draw | photos

The ‘Tahs played out a dominant 9-2 victory off the back of a standout performance from catcher Eva Bailey, including a one-on-four outplay to put the cherry on top of the win.

Facing off against some of the Terrace’s best in David Franklin, Andrew Clark, Rynell Williams and recent two-time team’s best Dan Jenkinson, Bailey secured two catches and added two eliminations in the dying seconds of the round.

Later, Hamilton struggled to return to form after their defeat last weekend, but secured the win with a close fought 7-4 result against Rutherford.

The return of Thomas McCallum and Lachlan Craig after a one-week layoff for both players bolstered the side, with the latter controlling front-court as he was named club’s best for the match.

The club’s new recruit Joseph Maynard also provided a spark in the middle of the match as Rutherford strung three match wins together, with the recent signing’s double catch critical to the tail end of the game.

To end the round, Cooks Hill struggled as captain Benjamin McIntyre’s absence continued, with founding recruit Michael Kolmajer also ruled out for the week.

Vice-captain Lewis Foot stepped into the leading role, and was crucial to the Cookers’ fight back to a 6-all final score to keep their undefeated run alive.

The shared points keep Belmont ahead of Cooks Hill on the ladder on point difference, and with a four point buffer inside a playoff finish the club could be on their way to elimination rounds for the first time in their history.
