But not even heavy rain could dampen the spirits of those who came to remember the men and women who served in all conflicts, and those who continue to serve.
After all, the soldiers who gave their lives for our country went through so much more.
Rain is said to represent rebirth and new beginnings, while also representing sadness.
Heavy rain fell on the crowd as the Anzac hymn Abide With Me flowed through the speakers and continued as the crowd joined in singing the national anthem.
Students from nearby schools took part in the march and some fulfilled speaking roles in front of the large crowd.
