MERMAIDS and more popped up in Lake Macquarie over the weekend for the second Float Your Boat parade.
Neon shapes adorned a flotilla that floated across the dark water on Friday and Saturday, with the 2018 crowds larger than the festival’s debut last year.
Cash awards are offered for the best boats, while prizes are also on offer for the best social media pictures taken at the event as it traced its path from Marmong Point Marina around the lake.
Lake Macquarie mayor Kay Fraser said the event turned the entire lake into a stage.
“Lake Macquarie is beautiful at night – the perfect stage to host a unique and creative festival of lights,” she said.
