The fledgling art night, Heart Open, celebrates its sixth event on Thursday, July 26, at a new venue, Customs House, in Newcastle East.
Heart Open (#HerArtOpen) is a female-focused Open Mic night in Newcastle.
The July event will feature dancer Madeline Denholm, artist and fashion designer Lurline Avangeline, poet Anne Walsh and violinist Victoria Stanmore.
An Open Mic session is also a part of the event, and anyone is welcome to sign up, time permitting.
During each event, hosts Alex Morris and Chloe Warren introduce each performer and open-mic guest. The pair also take turns interviewing each featured artist to learn the secrets of their skills.
All visitors are encouraged to give a $5 donation which will help pay the featured artists and photographer.
The celebration of creativity began at The Grain Store in August 2017 and has gradually grown. It has also been held at The Clarendon Hotel and the Newcastle Museum.
A range of dancers, comedians, poets, visual artist and musicians have showcased their talent at previous Heart Open events, including Vivid artist Louisa Magrics, pole and aerial dancer Mia Lipari, blues and folk singer Deanna Rose, writer and comedian Elena Terol Sabino and performance poet Janette Hoppe.
The July event is 6.30pm to 9.30pm on July 26 at Customs House, 1 Bond St, Newcastle. Details on the Heart Open Facebook page.
