SPOKEN WORD Girls On Key: Poetry and Spoken Word Girls has a new home at The Fernery, a community space in Islington. The family-friendly re-launch event at 2pm on October 7 includes an exhibition of art works and photographs plus poetry readings. Limited open mic slots available on the day.
TIME AFTER TIME The Creator Incubator is hosting a solo exhibition by Liz O’Brien – Birth Marks – from September 6 to 16. The photographic works explore universal emotions evoked from the realisation of one’s mortality, fears of the passing of time and the search for personal fulfilment in the face of gendered social pressures and expectations.
KITSCH DELIGHTS Jack Barnes, Ellie Kaufmann and Lauren Horwood are creating a group show titled Easy Living. The artists depict Australiana and kitsch subjects in everyday, ordinary situations. It’s on at Art Systems Wickham, August 31 to September 16.
ADOBE COURSES Pumphouse School of Design is hosting a five-week advanced Adobe Illustrator skills training workshop to produce illustrations for print and digital applications, and create digital animations, starting September 3. Also, there is a four-week Advanced Adobe CC InDesign software training to produce long format documents such as annual reports and books, starting September 25.
