Australian Idol winner Damien Leith and ARIA-nominated band Thirsty Merc will headline this year’s carols at Speers Point Park, Lake Macquarie City Council has announced.
The event will take place on December 9 and feature a screening of the family movie Christmas All Over Again from noon before the carols begin at 6.30pm.
There will be live entertainment, fireworks at 9pm and a visit from Santa.
Lake Macquarie council’s cultural services manager Jacqui Hemsley said landing Leith and Thirsty Merc was a coup for the event.
“Damien is an amazing vocal talent and has vast experience with live performance,” Ms Hemsley said.
“He won Australian Idol in 2006, has released an EP of Christmas carols and has performed at Carols in the Domain.”
