Hailed as Lake Macquarie’s biggest Christmas event, the carols will be held in Speers Point Park on Sunday, December 9.
The event will also feature an afternoon screening of family festive movie Christmas All Over Again, live entertainment, fireworks and an appearance by Santa.
Lake Macquarie City Council’s manager of cultural services, Jacqui Hemsley, said landing Leith and Thirsty Merc was a coup.
“Damien is an amazing vocal talent and has vast experience with live performance,” Ms Hemsley said.
“He won Australian Idol in 2006, has released an EP of Christmas Carols and has performed at Carols in the Domain.”
Thirsty Merc have been an Aussie rock institution for more than a decade, nominated for multiple APRA and ARIA awards.
Ms Hemsley said a range of food trucks and free entertainment would be operating at the event, which kicks off with the noon Christmas movie screening.
“There will be live local entertainment throughout the day, before the carols kick off at 6.30pm,” Ms Hemsley said.
Further details will be released closer to the event.
Lake Mac Carols will kick off at noon. The fireworks display will wrap up the event at 9pm.
