The maiden Newcastle 500 drew over 190,000 people over three days, making it the biggest sports event in the city's history. This year’s event is expected to be even bigger. The tourism injection alone is expected to be around $20 million.
It’s all part of the growing economic diversity of the Hunter. While the V8 supercars thunder out of pit lane at the end of November, the coal ships will continue to make their way into the Port of Newcastle to load our high quality coal and transport it around the globe.
