Millanta will present her show Lower Your Expectations at two sessions at the festival, to be held in several venues across the city.
"The show is very much about striving to be the best at everything and the mishaps along the way," Millanta said.
"It's comedy and it's about my addiction to wanting to be the best and having extremely high expectations of myself.
"The show is very much about how sometimes it doesn't go alright."
Millanta's performance career began with acting. She had vowed she would never do stand up.
"I thought it was way too scary and that I would never do stand up," she said. "I started doing impro, because I love sketch comedy and writing.
"It was a natural progression and all of a sudden I was doing stand up and I just loved it.
"I really enjoyed writing jokes and I enjoyed being able to put my point of view forward in comedic form, I guess.
"And I just fell in love with it and I haven't looked back."
Millanta will also perform 12 shows at this year's Melbourne Comedy Festival and three shows at Sydney Comedy Festival.
Her Sydney Fringe show was a sell-out.
"I was lucky enough to get some really nice reviews out of that," she said. "I was really happy with what I had at Fringe, but I have ramped it up since then.
"I've made it better and I'm now ready to take on Newcastle."
Millanta said the Newcastle Fringe Festival was attractive because she liked to support up start up events.
"The major festivals are mammoth," she said.
"It's a smaller and more intimate space and I really enjoy that. I like intimate comedy, it means you can relate to your audience more."
Newcastle Fringe Festival is on March 20-24.
