A WOMAN believed to be in her 60s has been attacked by a dog at Wallsend, paramedics have confirmed.

One witness said the woman and her daughter pulled over when the animal, which the witness identified as a cattle dog, attacked.
An Ambulance NSW spokeswoman said paramedics were called to Gunambi Street about 10am after the woman was bitten.
She suffered injuries to her arm and ribs and was in shock, the Ambulance NSW spokeswoman said.
Paramedics treated her on scene but referred her to seek medical care.
The latest Office of Local Government statistics, covering the three months to July last year, show there were a total of 20 attacks reported in Newcastle. Only one was considered serious.
During the same period Muswellbrook had seven attacks, one serious, and Lake Macquarie recorded 70. Three of those were considered serious.
The data shows Lake Macquarie has more than 81,000 registered dogs compared to Newcastle's 50,079.
At Cessnock there were 18 attacks, of which two were deemed serious, and Maitland's 34 attacks included four serious ones.
Port Stephens recorded 20 attacks, three of which were serious.
