Mental health support program Waves of Wellness Foundation, CareFlight Limited, Hunter Medical Research Institute, Cystic Fibrosis Community Care, Shine for Kids Co-op and The Pyjama Foundation are among the community initiatives aimed at addressing important social issues that are set to receive money.
Foundation chair Phil Neat said the board was impressed by the quality of projects represented in the latest round of grant applications.
"Each of these grants represents a partnership and shared vision to address important social issues, using some innovative and resourceful projects from non-profit organisations in the Hunter," Mr Neat said.
The foundation has awarded more than $19 million in grants since 2003, with over $8.7 million of that money going to projects that have an impact on the Hunter.
