Walker, who finished his junior career at under 18s in 2017, was named on Wednesday in the 35-man NSW Pride squad ahead of this year's inaugural national Hockey One competition.
The Norths clubman scored a NSW spot with Newcastle teammates Ky Willott, goalkeeper BJ Bruton and recent recruit Kurt Lovett.
This announcement came just 48 hours after Newcastle defeated Illawarra South Coast 3-2 in a penalty shootout to decide the state title in Sydney on Monday.
"It was a fair representation and good for Rory [Walker] to break into the squad," Newcastle coach Dave Willott said.
Other Hunter Coast Premier Hockey League players to get a run for NSW were Hayden Dillon (Wests), Liam Alexander, Nick Holman and Lain Carr (Gosford).
Australian defender Matt Dawson, currently touring with the Kookaburras in Europe for the FIH Pro League, was also included for the Pride.
In the women's NSW squad, Mariah Williams and Jess Parr were the two Newcastle connections.
