The 28-year-old surged home in the tightly contested final, featuring eight straight shots between the 15^th and 17^th ends, before wrapping up the decider 21-12 over Victorian 20-year-old Tiffany Brodie.

Scott, the 2016 champion who picked up $10,000 for her efforts, was embraced by her parents after securing victory at Broadbeach Bowls Club.

"It means everything," Scott, who won two gold medals at last year's Commonwealth Games at the same venue, said in her post-match interview.

"Obviously I'm playing the sport I love but putting in the hard work off the greens makes the result even sweeter. It's an unbelievable feeling."

The lead changed five times in the opening 15 ends with Scott falling behind on three occasions, twice by two (2-0, 5-3)

After nabbing three shots on the eighth and going ahead 8-6, Scott lost three consecutive ends between 10 and 12 including a two-point save on 11.

Scott was down 11-10 after 14 ends before she went on an impressive run, winning five of the next six and outscoring Brodie 11-1 during that period.

The highlight was a clean-sweep four on the 17^th end to increase Scott's advantage to seven at 18-11.

"It wasn't easy," Scott said.

"Tiff played some really good shots and we were neck and neck before I skipped away at the end."

Also on Thursday, former Hunter lawn bowler Aron Sherriff won the Australian Open men's pairs title with Ray Pearse.

The 2019 Asia Pacific Championships will be held on the Gold Coast from June 18 to 28.
