Not quite the script previously undefeated Merewether were hoping for as they celebrated the opening of their new "Green Room" headquarters at Townson Oval.
The Greens haven't forgotten and they are hoping to turn the tables on the Two Blues, who return home to No.2 Sportsground on Saturday after almost two months away ahead of last weekend's women's Test between Australia and Japan.
"They [Wanderers] schooled us last time," Merewether co-coach Trent Considine said.
"We weren't ready for it and had a lot of attention on the Green Room.
"Beaten in all three grades at home. We really need to dish it back to them."
Adding further intrigue to the contest, only two points separate joint leaders Merewether (44) and third-placed Wanderers (42).
"It's second versus third and whoever wins stays in that position so it's pretty important," Considine said.
Ed Clifton comes in at halfback for the Greens to replace Eli McCulloch (unavailable) while Jay Strachan (overseas) and injured pair Cameron Turner (wrist) and Dylan Smouha (calf) are still out.
Sinclair George (thumb) returns for Wanderers in place of Charlie Mortimer.
Considine said he was looking forward to the "battle of the 12s" between Merewether's Bill Coffey and Wanderers' Nimilote Qio.
Elsewhere in round 13 on Saturday and sixth-placed Nelson Bay host Maitland at Bill Strong Oval as they strive to keep their finals aspirations alive, Lake Macquarie play Southern Beaches at Walters Park welcoming Tevita Polamalu and Ray Laulala for injured duo Junior Osasa and Brendan Holliday while Singleton are away to Hamilton at Passmore Oval. University has the bye.
