KNOCK OUT Australian pub rock legends The Angels wind the clock back 40 years next Friday when they perform their classic 1979 album No Exit in full at Belmont 16s. The album spawned the hits Shadow Boxer and Mr Damage, became their first top-10 album and certified the band's following after their breakthrough Face To Face LP in 1978.

SHINE OFF Newcastle country queen Catherine Britt had her Silverton Sunsets Music Festival cancelled this week after funding for the event was withdrawn. For the past two years the festival has attracted some of the biggest names in Australian music to the western NSW town of Silverton, including Troy Cassar-Daley, Tania Kernaghan, Sara Storer, Amber Lawrence, John Williamson, Adam Harvey, and of course, Britt.
HYPED Perth indie singer-songwriter Carla Geneve has been attracting plenty of buzz since releasing her self-titled debut EP last month. Fresh off her first American tour supporting San Cisco, Geneve will hit the road with rockers Holy Holy on their national tour for their upcoming third album My Own Pool Of Light. That will bring Geneve to the Cambridge Hotel on October 19 for her first Newcastle show.
STABLE MATES Alt-country label Stanley Records is bringing a showcase of their talent to Lizotte's on August 7, headlined by Newcastle's Ben Leece & The Left Of The Dial. The bill is also includes Peta Caswell and Newcastle's Katie Brianna.
