The tour honours the "father of their rainbow nation, Nelson Mandela" and celebrates the choir's latest album, Freedom, which won a Grammy Award earlier this year for best world music album.
We hope that our uplifting message of hope, faith and joy reaches audiences new and old on this special return visit as we celebrate the legacy of the great Nelson Mandela.
- Andrew Kay
The three-time Grammy Award-winning choir has been entertaining audiences across the globe for close to two decades. During that time they have shared the stage with some of the biggest names in music including U2, the late Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Beyoncé, Ben Harper, Robert Plant and Celine Dion.
The choir's vibrant costumes, incredible vocals and uplifting songs are a heady combination for audiences, many of whom are on their feet and dancing throughout the 90-minute performance.
For the first half of this concert the choir will perform Songs of the Free, a rousing program celebrating the centenary of the birth of Nelson Mandela. Following that, they will share international gospel classics.
"The group continues to inspire fans worldwide, but the reaction we get from audiences in Australia is unforgettable," producer Andrew Kay says. "We hope that our uplifting message of hope, faith and joy reaches audiences new and old on this special return visit as we celebrate the legacy of the great Nelson Mandela."
