Cessnock centre Josh Charles will undergo fitness tests at training later this week to determine whether or not he lines up for the Goannas against Western Suburbs in Sunday's Newcastle Rugby League grand final at McDonald Jones Stadium.
"He [Charles] reckons he's right to go, but we'll have to do some contact later this week to make sure," Cessnock coach Todd Edwards said.
"It's not a big tear so hopefully it's not a major issue."
Edwards said, if required, Isaiah Cooper-Tetevano would be promoted from the bench as Charles' replacement in the first XIII with Marvin Filipo then returning from injury.
Wests coach Matt Lantry said his squad, who had the weekend off, have a "full bill of health" and expects to name the same 17 from their most recent major semi victory on September 8.
Kick-off in the first grade decider has been scheduled for 3:30pm.
