El Dorado Dreaming will be one of three runners for Newcastle trainer Kris Lees in the group 2 Hot Danish Stakes (1400m) at Rosehill and was $11 with TAB Fixed Odds on Friday. Miss Fabulass ($11), with Newcastle's Aaron Bullock aboard, and New Zealand group 1 winner Nicoletta ($26), with Rachel King to ride, were the others.
Gibbons was due to pilot El Dorado Dreaming in the group 1 Doncaster Mile at 49 kilograms in April but Lees was forced to scratch her because of a respiratory infection.
The four-year-old has had just one run since, when seventh in the Theo Marks Stakes (1300m) at Rosehill on September 14.
Gibbons has since guided her in a "super" trial effort at Newcastle, where she was strong to the line when a length second to stablemate Graff, and he was excited about his first race ride on the formerly Ben Smith-trained group 1 Sires' Produce winner.
"Even before that [scratching] and up until recently, she hasn't been at her best, but I reckon the last three of four weeks, it's the best she's been since Kris has had her," Gibbons said.
"When Kris first got the horse, I trialled her a few weeks later and her run was amazing. She even ran down In Her Time in a trial. Since that day I haven't seen her going as good until now."
The race will be the first at group 2 level for Gibbons, who has the benefit of a gate one draw.
"That's her ideal trip, 1400, especially when she's fresh, it will be perfect for her and she gets the perfect draw to just do nothing in the run," he said.
"And if she's going as good as I think she is, she will give it a shake.
"Miss Fabulass, she probably has the most natural ability of anything in the race, but she's a very tricky horse and she does a lot wrong.
"If she brings her A-game, none of them will get near her, it's just whether she does or not.
"Nicoletta, she comes over with pretty good form and her trial and work have been pretty good, so it's not without a hope either."
Nicoletta, which carries the Lucia Valentina colours of New Zealand owner Lib Petagna, will have her first start in Australia. She won the group 1 New Zealand Breeders Stakes (1600m) in April.
