A brand new terrace-style home with three bedrooms and three bathrooms at 14 John Street lasted just four days on the market before it was sold for its full price of $1.15 million on February 28. It was built by Paddington Properties and sold by First National Newcastle City, who reported over 40 people through the first open home.
It is the second sale over $1 million, and the highest, for John Street, according to Australian Property Monitors data. A brand new home at No.10, also built by Paddington Properties, sold in November for $1.1 million.
Both were well surpassed when Harcourts sold a custom-built residence on Throsby Creek on Wednesday for a suburb record $1.5 million. The sale of the home at 5 Sparke Street eclipsed the previous highest of $1.38 million set in 2016 for another waterfront home.
A five-bedroom circa 1900s home on a corner block at 47 John Street was sold by Green Street Property last month for $921,000.
Belle Property Charlestown set new street records with the $1.445 million auction sale of a five-bedroom home at 10 Boatmans Row in Eleebana and the $1.475 million sale of 11 Beryl Street in Warners Bay prior to auction.
The home built by the late Tony Murphy at 9 Nesbitt Close, Kotara was sold by Dalton Partners for $1.4 million.
At PRD's auction night Wednesday, a renovated three-bedroom semi with a separate studio at 78 Dawson Street in Cooks Hill sold for $1.4 million and a block of two three-bedroom units at 89 Wolfe Street on The Hill for $1.415 million.
