Strike Force Melanesia was formed after police were called to Watanobbi's Slim Close at 11.30pm on October 25.
Officers found a 26-year-old man with stab wounds to his chest and face.
Paramedics treated him at the scene before he was taken to hospital in a critical condition.
The man did not survive.
Tuggerah Lakes police began investigations with the assistance of the State Crime Command's Homicide Squad.
On Thursday their inquiries led police in the Murrumbidgee Police District to arrest a man, 23, wanted on a warrant related to a foot pursuit.
The 23-year-old was taken to Griffith police station and interviewed by Strike Force Melanesia detectives.
He was subsequently charged with murder and refused bail to face Griffith Local Court on Friday.
The charge follows police on Monday charging a Lake Munmorah man, 34, with accessory after the fact and an initial murder charge against a 28-year-old man laid last week.
They remain before the courts.
Inquiries are ongoing.
