At Art Systems Wickham is LOVED by Jill Orr until February 28. After downsizing her studio, Orr discovered an exhibition of drawings and paintings that "is an unexpected chronicle of my working life in Newcastle." She uses watercolours that change from intense colour saturation to barely there, soft pastels form leaves and stems with a few dashes, the result of years spent behind the easel. LIFE'S JOURNEY by Helen Jackson is on now at Back to Back Galleries, Cooks Hill until February 28. Hand-built ceramic figures are placed with timber, stone and found objects to create miniature sculptures with drawings and paintings rounding out this first-time solo exhibition.

SHOW OF METTLE will open at The Creator Incubator (TCI) on Saturday, February 20 from 5pm. As curator, Una Rey has brought together four TCI artists Michelle Gearin, Fiona Lee, Braddon Snape and Gavin Vitullo. Viewers can expect to be challenged by this exhibition with in-situ installation, paintings and sculpture.
