Around 1917 to 1919, successful businessman George William Pinfold reportedly built the stately home known as Kooyong at 50 Dumaresq Street in Hamilton East.
The three-bedroom red brick residence is positioned on a large parcel of land some 1416 square metres in size and has an in-ground pool.
Robinson Property's Mike Flook is marketing the property. A guide has not been disclosed but the Newcastle Herald believes expectations are over $2.6 million.
"It's a trophy home," Mr Flook said. "Not only is it set on over 1400 square metres, it's a classic Federation and someone could come in and work in with those period features to create arguably what would be one of that area's finest homes."
It is open Saturday at 3.30pm and set for auction on May 22.
Prime position
A property believed to be one of the first for Stockton has reportedly attracted widespread interest.

Built in the 1800s, it has been a corner shop, a newsagency, a milk bar and a four-bedroom home. The property has a B2 and R2 zoning and is positioned on a double block close to Stockton ferry wharf.
It is set for auction on May 1. A guide has not been disclosed but the Herald understands expectations are over $1 million.
One of a kind
A "broad mix" of interest has come for a property like no other in Cessnock. Tim Lojszczyk, of Harcourts Hunter Valley, is marketing 26 George Street with a guide of $750,000 to $825,000.
It features a four-bedroom house, a separate granny flat, pool, tennis court, triple garage and an oversized shed, all on a block 1361 square metres in size.
"We've had a fair bit of early enquiry," Mr Lojszczyk said.
"It's been a wide range - investors, people coming up from Sydney as well."
