First National Newcastle City's Tom Lemke launched the three-bedroom house at 34 Mabel Street to the market on May 6 and had the sold sticker up the following day before the property's first scheduled open house was held.
Mr Lemke said the buyers were a local family who had missed out on two other properties he had marketed in Georgetown and did not want to miss out again. He also said the sale was well above the owners' expectations.
It is believed to be only the fourth sale over $1 million for Georgetown, according to Australian Property Monitors data.
According to APM data, the suburb's previous highest sale was $1.09 million, which was paid for a beautiful Federation home on a block around 910 square metres in size in Parkview Street in 2016.
Other sales over the $1 million mark in Georgetown have been $1.035 million in 2018 for a five-bedroom Federation home in Fletcher Street and $1.025 million in March for a classic weatherboard house at 50 Christo Road.
The home in Mabel Street had three bedrooms and two bathrooms and had been renovated with an Australian coastal beach house vibe.
A four-bedroom residence with lake views at 18A Beryl Street in Warners Bay has been sold by Belle Property Lake Macquarie within eight days on the market. The sale price was not disclosed but the result is rumoured to be over $1.6 million.
Another quick exchange came for a four-bedroom, three-bathroom house at 13 Saxonvale Close, Eleebana that also had lake views. Belle Property had not put a guide on the property before it sold after 10 days on the market. The sale price was undisclosed but the Newcastle Herald believes it was secured for $1.17 million.
A three-bedroom house at 15A McMichael Street, Maryville that was marketed by Belle Property Newcastle passed in at auction but sold afterwards for $1 million.
There were reportedly multiple offers made for a four-bedroom home at 4 Cooinda Close in Belmont North that is rumoured to have been sold by Belle Property for $1.2 million. They also sold a four-bedroom house at 10 Bombay Court in Cameron Park for $910,000. It was marketed with a guide of $850,000.
Dalton Partners sold a three-bedroom waterfront apartment at 31/87 Hannell Street, Wickham for $1.425 million.
