The 20-year-old from Eleebana has been selected as one of five finalists from NSW to compete in the Miss World Australia finals in Queensland next month.
McCloskey, in her second year of studying for a Bachelor of Business Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the University of Newcastle, was identified from her previous work and pushed automatically through the preliminary round of the competition.
The national final will be held at the Versace Hotel on the Gold Coast on August 13.
McCloskey has previously finished in the top four of the Top Model Australia competition and has more recently graced the pages of independent fashion magazine Facon.
"I love just getting dressed up," she said.
"My dream with my degree ... is to have my own fashion boutique. I love fashion and I love getting glam and meeting like-minded people.
"It's all learning. I think it's a bit of self-discovery, kind of finding where I sit."
As part of the pageant, McCloskey is raising money for Variety and Bush to Beach by holding raffles and events. Details can be found on her Instagram page @selina_mccloskey.
