NORTHS defender Matt Dawson has claimed a silver medal after Australia went down to Belgium in a drama-charged Olympic men's hockey final in Tokyo on Thursday night.

The Kookaburras lost 3-2 in a penalty shootout, with the final attempt retaken and ultimately missed as Belgium secured their first Games title.
The world's best two teams battled it out in a see-sawing affair with scores level at 1-all at the end of regular time.
Tom Wickham equalised for the Aussies, contenting their first decider in 17 years, in the third quarter after Florent van Aubel put Belgium ahead in the 32nd minute.
Australian have now collected 10 Olympic medals in this event since breaking through with a bronze in Tokyo 55 years ago.
It was their fifth final appearance and first since winning the nation's sole gold in 2004.
It also marks seven medals in eight Games for the Kookaburras, only missing the podium in Rio last time around.
