Our Mechanic has won his past four starts, all at Maitland, and blitzed his heat in a best-on-night 22.18 seconds last week.
"Box four shouldn't be a problem," Lewis said. "If he jumps like he did last week, he'll sizzle around. It was pretty wet there last week and 22.18 was absolutely humming. He pulled up brand new and he's ready to go."
At Wentworth Park on Saturday night, Sawyers Gully trainer Darryl Thomas was second in the Flight To The Phoenix final with Mr. Ticket, which overcame a poor start to finish 1.75 lengths off winner Billy Creek. Butterwick trainer Michael Manuel's Chevy Royale was fourth. East Gresford trainer Charmaine Field was a winner at the meeting with Cherokee Outlaw.
On Friday night at Sandown, Thomas-trained Line Of Quality was fifth in the group 1 Bold Trease won by Gypsy Wyong.
