Last year's $935,000 sale of 14 Marton Street was easily the suburb's biggest until the 6023 square metre block at 176A Marsden Street sold for $1.65 million on Saturday.
Built about 10 years ago, the four-bedroom, three-bathroom home boasts a six-person spa overlooking bushland, and a kitchen that has won a Master Builders Association award.
"It's certainly a point of difference house," said selling agent Rhonda Nyquist, of PRD Hunter Valley.
"There's a lot of property there, one and a half acres, and the home has been built virtually state-of-the-art."

The home sits adjacent to twin horse stables - described on the listing as 'the Horse Hilton' - and has four day paddocks.
Ms Nyquist said the home attracted good interest before selling to a family with four children.
"They're probably going to convert [the stables] to a rumpus room play area for the kids," Ms Nyquist said.
"They may keep one stable in case one of the children want to have a pet pony down the track."
Of the 49 housing suburbs in the Newcastle LGA, only Beresfield, Birmingham Gardens, Hexham, Jesmond, Sandgate, and Tarro are yet to record a $1 million residential sale.
