Hunter New England Health said two elderly people - one from Moree Plains and the other from Inverell - were also among those with the virus to lose their life in the health district.
The Hunter New England region recorded 1216 new COVID-19 cases during the 24-hour period - 766 detected by rapid antigen tests and 450 by PCR tests.
There are 21 people in the health district's hospitals, including one receiving intensive care.
NSW recorded 8271 new COVID-19 cases during the 24-hour reporting period.
There are 1211 COVID-19 patients in hospital across the state, with 59 in ICU.
Of the new cases, 5250 came from rapid antigen tests and 3021 from PCR tests.
