For more than 40 years, the Jack Newtown Celebrity Classic has drawn big names from far beyond the sport's usual borders to play and raise money for the cause.
It is a legacy his family said they wanted to continue after Newton was diagnosed with dementia in 2019.
The event has helped raise more than $6.3 million for junior golf and diabetes.
Clint Newton has grown up with the celebrity classic.
It has been a fantastic thing to be a part of, and it has been incredibly humbling to watch my parents give so much back to two causes which are close to their hearts and our family in junior golf and diabetes, he told the Newcastle Herald as the event celebrated 40 years.
