Some of the squad members have had outstanding track performances in recent months, and have impressed the NSW Cycling and NSW Institute of Sport coaches in doing so.
As we move into the road racing season, the academy squad training sessions move from the track to Saturday morning road training rides.
The members of the 2012-2013 Hunter Academy cycling squad are: Alexander Baker, Austin Bond, Carsten Chapman, Kai Chapman, Charles Hofman, Hayley Follett, Christopher Greentree, Amelia Follett, Oscar Hourn, Kodie Howard, Jonathon Logan, Alicia McDonald, Nicola McDonald, Michael Scott, Logan Olive and Tyler Nicholson.
The academy’ s archery talent development coaches (husband and wife team) Lynne and Peter Fairhall are continuing their outstanding work with their squad again this year.
Both are very dedicated and professional in their approach to coaching and have not only had outstanding results with young able bodied archers, but are doing a great deal of outstanding work with athletes with a disability.
Brett Paddison and Dayne Robertson are two such archers who have benefitted greatly from the special treatment afforded them by Lynne and Peter.
Members of the 2012-2013 Hunter Academy of Sport archery squad are; Ben Barlow, Tim Ford, Tyler Causby, Janszen Cook, Aimee Duncan, Blake Eyre, Catherine Fletcher, Joshua Ford, Kerry Ford, Brett Paddison, Dayne Robertson, Josh Stipack, Jacob Teasdale and Samantha Tom
The BMX squad - has recently been involved in a very busy period of training and competition, and is working extremely well with new head coach Robie Cropper.
The members of this BMX squad are: Gillian Anderson-Fox, Kira Baird, Caitlin Booker, Jordan Brown, John Wright, Gabby Campbell, Brock Griffiths, Jesse Hood, Reece Millington, Ethan Pal, Jarred Tindall and Jesse Budden.
The squad’s next training activity is set down for Homebush on Sunday, April 14.
During this month squad members will also participate in a strength and conditioning assessment program under the direction of Hunter Academy of Sport consultant Anthony Webb.
Four talent development squads have been busy preparing for the upcoming 2013 Academy Games Tournaments which will be conducted at various venues in the Illawarra Region from Friday, April 19 to Sunday 21 April.
These games are designed to provide good competition opportunities for the squads participating in regional academies programs across all parts of NSW.
The Hunter academy will be participating in golf, hockey, lawn bowls and netball.
