Three years ago, Voodoo Express debuted at the local watering hole.
Since then, the rock and blues band with sets of original and cover songs have built up a strong following and played every couple of months at the affectionately known "Wicko".
The band's members are drummer Kerry Miller, lead singer and songwriter Dean Reynolds, guitarist Andrew Davis and bass player Jed Browne.
They have created their own sound with a blend of genres that has proven popular with all ages and seen the band support David Hasselhoff and Chase the Sun.
The band is also working on their first official album, to be released later this year.
However, Reynolds said there was nothing quite like playing to a Wicko crowd.
"I've walked out of the place after the gig and completely forgot to get paid for it - you're just on such a high," he said.
The mutual love has seen the band land this New Year's Eve at the Wicko. But you don't have to wait that long.
■ Voodoo Express perform this Friday, October 11, 9pm at the Wickham Park Hotel, Maitland Road, Islington.
